Victor was a Lecturer in Entomology at the University of Peradeniya and the University of the South
Pacific before coming to Australia. In Australia Victor was working as an Entomologist with the
Department of Primary Industries, NSW as a Research Entomologist at its Elizabeth Macarthur
Agricultural Institute.
In Australia Victor has contributed positively to maintain the use of Tamil language by the Tamil
community by helping to run Tamil schools and to establish and run a Tamil weekly radio program.
Victor has written extensively on the conflict in Sri Lanka in the worldwide web
(https://tamilnation.org/forum/rajakulendran/index.htm ) and as a result of this both ABC and SBS
TV and Radio has used Victor extensively in their programs related to the Sri Lankan conflict over the
years. In 2008 Victor was elected the Secretary of the Australasian Federation of Tamil Associations
(AFTA), an umbrella organization of the key Tamil Associations in the States and Territories of
Australia and in the cities of Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand which has served the Tamil
community since its inception in 1983.
When the founder member and the Chairman of AFTA Emeritus Professor, Mamanithar Eliezer
passed away Victor was elected as the Chairman and held that position until he retired in 2020, to
give the opportunity for younger people to takeover.
Victor started a Tamil radio Broadcast in the NSW Community Radio “Radio 2000 FM” with other
like-minded Sri Lankan and Indian Tamils called “Thamil Mulakkam” which still runs on Saturday
nights from 8 pm onwards. Victor was actively involved in establishing the Sydney’s Sri Lankan Tamil
Community’s own radio called the “Australian Tamil Broadcasting Corporation” (ATBC) and has been
doing a weekly program in this Radio from the first week of the life of this radio called “Seithy
Arangam” a talk-back program on Thursday nights from 9.30 onwards, giving the listeners an
opportunity to discuss what has happened in Sri Lanka in politics during the week.
Victor is a keen gardener and practice what he learned during his university education and later
taught in two universities. He grows almost everything he eats in his back-yard garden. Victor is a
keen tennis player and plays twice a week with his friends.
